If there’s one thing Girl Talk taught us all (besides how to duck lawsuits via the fair use law) it’s that mash-ups are gold. In order to get hipsters to listen to pop music (and actually admit to it), one must take two or more guilty pleasure songs, and mash them together. On their own, you’ll hear a bunch of plaid-wrapped, tight-jeaned, dirty-chuck taylored shouts of “This is garbage,” but together these songs become some form of rebel art that doesn’t sacrifice indie cred. Exhibit A: The White Panda’s most recent venture in the mash-up business. Taking the ridiculously popular, and arguably addicting, “Tik Tok” by Ke$ha, and the feel-good retard flow of Rich Boy’s “Throw Some D’s,” The White Panda inject head nods and fist pumps directly into the veins of the internet. Mannie Fresh and Ludacris also make a cameo. So go out, get a fresh cut and start lookin’ for the freaks, and be sure to remember to puke in Paris Hilton’s closet too.
